Suppose you want to be a nurse, teacher, social worker, occupational therapist, or study for a degree in psychology, social sciences, childhood studies, or health studies. In that case, this is the course for you. This one year stand-alone Level 3 course opens many diverse pathways. This vocational course uses theory with practice. Time will be spent in college learning knowledge then putting this theory into practice in placement.
Entry requirements:
Entry Level 3/ Level 1 – There are no entry requirements, but you will be asked to take an English and maths test if you don’t have any qualifications.
Level 2 – 4 GCSEs at grades 9 – 3/A* – D (English and maths desirable) or a Level 1 qualification.
Level 3 – 4 GCSEs at grade 9 – 4/A* – C, including English and Maths, or a Level 2 qualification (Merit or Distinction) in a related subject. Note: for skills-based qualifications, you might need the skills at Level 2 to enrol on Level 3. The majority of students progress to the extended diploma in health and social care. They achieve the entry requirement of \merit, satisfactory completion of placement hours and attendance at or above the college requirement. Students who do not progress on to the second year of study lead to related employment or an apprenticeship.
